Helite Airnest Inflatable Airvest - Black

After scouring the net and looked at practically,effectiveness and costs I decided to purchase the Helite Airnest.
Very impressed in how it sits over your jacket tethered to the bike suffrage. It's not in the way of your riding. It's comfortable and it's easy to clean. Haven't had the misfortune yet of coming off and don't intend to but can see why it gives us more reassurance incase of an off. Strong construction which will last years and easy replacable cannister if it ever did go off.
Safe and protection vital areas is a necessity...one can always get another bike!

This is the first time I've considered an air vest and as it was in clearance I thought I'd trial it. Unfortunately the sizing was just too large for me but SBS as usual were fantastic in their help, putting me in touch with the UK supplier for a chat (also super helpful) & an eventual return as it was too large to be effective. The vest itself was great quality, the delivery was next day and the whole process was thoroughly professional from SBS which is why they are my go to place for motorcycle gear. As for the Airvest I will be buying one as the build quality, ease of use and protection given certainly gives confidence. Hopefully I never need it but all the reviews show it to be a fantastic aid to safety and protection for the rider

When on, you don't even notice it! I originally bought a large (im 5'9", 45" Chest 43" Waist in gear) but found it made me look like a kid in my fathers suit even when adjusted tightly so I've opted for a medium instead and returned the large. There's a lot of adjustment for width so was advised to go off height - the medium has a label inside saying it's suitable for 165-178cm and the large said 170-185cm (I found conflicting info on sizing all over, but the guys at sportsbikeshop cleared it up best they could!)

Haven't had to test it yet, hope I never do, but feel it's better to have it and not need it, than need it and not have it. It feels very well made and the back protector is better than my level 1 in my jacket.

Lanyard goes around the frame under your seat and needs a fair bit of pressure to deploy, so there'll be no accidental Michellin Man at the petrol station!

Definitely a worthwhile purchase if you have all the other essential kit!

I have not tested it in a real-life situation - yet. Got it because like a good helmet seems a good investment, particularly if you commute into a city (esp London).

The setup is easy and the lanyard has some give in it, so won't deploy if you forget to detach it when getting off.

OK, might seem overkill to some, but protects all your vital organs and your neck & spine.

The idea is not to wearing it tight - to allow it to inflate. Also allows air on warmer days to circulate a bit.

Use it mainly for commuting and long journeys.

So, if you have a good jacket and trouser, hemet, gloves etc - this is the next logical step.

Got the black because it could bring myself to wear lollypop lady hi-viz.
