The title says it all. Very happy with the purchase
This is a great Satnav and I love the fact you can set the level of twisty-ness, a great purchase and so much better than the phone app I was previously using.
Very easy to use & intuitive. Extremely happy with the purchase. I borrowed my bosses last year to do around 1000miles in Scotland, through all sorts of weather-didn't miss a beat. So a no brainier to buy. Great piece of user friendly technology.
Good price, fast delivery as usual.
Very easy to fit to my bike and looks neat and tidy. Simple to use (even with gloves on) and the display is crisp and clear.
Prefer it to my Zumo that it replaced.
Takes a bit of getting used too after having Garmin in the past.

Not much different from the Tom Tom 40 I had on last bike. Definitely quicker to respond. The updates are a bit of a pain as keep appearing on screen. Takes time to download them too. Unfortunately the Tom Tom is still plagued by light coloured patches that appear from time to time on the screen. Thought it might be water damage but my last one was the same. Noticeable in sunlight and can be distracting. Other than that works very well!…
Easy to use quick delivery
Finally decided to get some navigation for our Tiger, opted for this model based on previous reviews, easy to install,, use & pair up with headset too, would definitely recommend this product.
Excellent satnav screen, very bright and easy to set up
Replaced my old TOM Tom 420 as water had got in. First unit was faulty would not sync with satellites. Reading store exchanged immediately with new unit. No fuss or hassle. Great service from Sportsbikeshop as always. Always my first port of call for bike gear.
Good upgrade from the 40 series,,screen could be bigger but good device overall.
Bought to replace an older Tomtom rider 400. This one's a little faster at processing, and it's easier that it updates via wifi
An update / replacement for my ageing 400. Seems as good with a few extra features added. Hope it lasts and works as well as my 400 has. Excellent service and very quick delivery from Sportsbikeshop

Rider 550 was easy to set up on my tiger! It looks well on the bike, works well, it is easy to read while moving! Took a while to get paired with my Sena srl mesh but can get directions through the speakers now! Would buy again!

What s the difference between the TomTom Sat-Nav Rider 550 Premium and the 550 World?
January 9, 2023The unit itself is the same (550), however the Premium version comes supplied with an additional car mounting kit, RAM anti-theft solution, and a protective carry case, as well as the motorcycle mount, and the RAM mounting kit that are supplied with the World.
With the Rider 550 World will there be everything in the box so that it can be wired to the bike and fix the bracket to the handlebars and its ready to go or will I to purchase other bits of kit to get it up and running?
November 26, 2019We can confirm that all the accessories needed to install/fit the device to your motorcycle is provided in the box. These include the motorcycle mount, RAM mount and fitting kit, USB charging cable, motorcycle power cable, user guide etc.
Does the device have to be hard wired or is there a built in battery? If there is a battery, how long is the battery life on standard resolution and use?

I have my tom tom 450 wired up and mounted on a gps stand on my Kawasaki z1000sx. If i bought this product would the fitment be the same, ie could i just pop it straight onto the existing electronics?

Please can you tell me if I have to have a smartphone - or any mobile, come to that - to receive live traffic info with the Tom Tom, or will it just be received by the unit? Thanks.
March 1, 2019The Rider 550 needs to be connected to a Smartphone to receive live data. Smartphone Connected devices use your existing smartphone data plan to access TomTom Traffic as well as other services like TomTom Speed Cameras and TomTom MyDrive by connecting to your smartphone using Bluetooth.
Does the device need to be connected to a power source when in use & does it come with usb lead?
January 29, 2019This Sat-Nav must be connected to the motorcycle mount provided when in use on the motorcycle. This Sat-Nav does include a USB data cable.
I keep seeing routes posted on motorbike sites such as Ride magazine as gpx files. Will these upload directly to the satnav? Also, is it waterproof to Scottish weather??
January 16, 2019You will be able to download motorcycle routes to your laptop or PC and then upload them to your TomTom Rider using the USB cable. There are two types of files that you can import. GPX files and ITN files. GPX files will appear in the 'tracks' menu and the ITN files will appear in the 'routes' menu. TomTom state that this device fully Waterproof.
Does The satnav require a paying subscription per annum for update of speed cameras etc
January 7, 2019This Sat-Nav comes with Lifetime speed cameras as standard and you will therefore have to pay no subscription fees. However please note that Lifetime is the useful life of the device, which means the period of time that TomTom continues to support your device with either software updates, services, content or accessories. A device will have reached the end of its useful life when one or more is no longer available or if no updates have been downloaded to the device for a period of 36 months or more.

Can you add multiple place/point markers when planning a route so you can navigate through the exact roads and places you want to? Also,can you plan a round trip?

August 9, 2018Info below taken from the Tom Tom website: France TomTom s service in France is certified to be 100% legal. Instead of warning for exact locations of cameras, TomTom warns for Danger Zones around any potential danger, including cameras.
