Introducing... the 2020 AGV K6 helmet

29 Oct 2019
It's not often that helmet firms make big claims over safety, but AGV have done so with their impending K6

Whether you’re commuting to work, taking on a touring adventure or tackling the track, AGV claim their new-for-2020 K6 helmet can adapt to it all.

The AGV K6’s carbon-aramid fibre shell houses an EPS consisting of five densities to better absorb energy if the worst was to happen.

AGV claim this makes the K6 48% more protective than the minimum standard required by legislation. The visor mechanism has also been shrunk, minimising the surface area left without impact-absorbing EPS behind it.

AGV’s Ultravision visor, derived from the range-topping Pista GP race helmet, offers an increased field of vision over a typical visor. It allows 190° peripherally and 85° vertically, and a MaxVision Pinlock insert is included to keep you fog-free.

There are also five visor positions for the visor – fully closed and steps at 70°, 50°, 35° on the way to fully open.

Its plush interior is waterproof and wear-resistant around its base, as well as moisture-wicking for an all-round comfortable lid.

The K6 is also lighter than their top-of-the-line Pista GP-R, with a claimed weight of a mere 1220g. For even better comfort, the K6 comes in four shell sizes – XS-S, MS, ML-L and XL-XXL meaning every rider can get their best fit.

Five intake vents and two rear exhaust vents ensure air is constantly flowing through the helmet, and all five intakes are adjustable using switches.

The design of the shell with its rear spoiler makes it more aerodynamic and perfectly suited to track riding.

But, proving it can be taken from track to long commute or tour in a matter of moments, the K6 is also compatible with AGV’s new ARK Bluetooth system. A model-specific mounting kit for the ARK is due to arrive at the same time as the helmet.

A lack of internal sun visor is notable, but AGV say they’re working on a forthcoming solution for touring riders who don’t want to switch visors, without revealing details.

The K6 will launch in four plain colours, with an RRP of £359.99 and in seven graphics with an RRP of £399.99. It will be available in sizes XS-XL.
