Oxford's budget suit tackles Gore-Tex Pro big boys

Oxford’s latest development aims to replicate the effects of Gore-Tex Pro for a fraction of the cost

While a regular Gore-Tex Pro suit from high-end brands such as Klim, Rukka or Dainese could cost upwards of £2000, Oxford’s equivalent will leave you with change from £500.

The membrane in Oxford’s new Advanced Rider Series is called Dry2Dry and it’s available as a drop liner, or laminated to the outer in the style of Gore-Tex Pro.

The laminated membrane in their new Mondial Advanced jacket and trousers is bonded directly to the outside of the jacket. This stops rain water soaking through the outer, meaning dry and comfortable rides all-year round.

The Mondial is joined in the new collection by the Continental Advanced textile touring suit, which features a Dry2Dry drop liner. This acts as a last line of defence against rainwater, rather than the direct nature of the laminated membrane.

Improved waterproofing capability is the main plus point to their Advanced Rider Series, but Oxford have incorporated more features in their new touring collection to help protect from the elements.

The ‘WarmDry’ removable thermal liner is lightweight and warm without adding needless bulk, while Oxford’s ‘DirectVent’ improves airflow to the rider’s body.

The Mondial Advanced’s laminated membrane will peel out of the way when the vent is unzipped, allowing direct airflow to the rider’s skin.

The membrane in the Continental Advanced is removable, so riding with the vents open and the lining out will have a similar ‘direct’ effect.

The full Mondial suit launches at £449.98 (£249.99 for the jacket, £199.99 for the jeans), while the Continental suit starts up up to £369.98 (£199.99 for the jacket, £169.99 for the jeans).
